On 11th February, 1915, the 1st Worcestershire battalion of 24 Brigade, 8th Division, moved into trenches near Estaires in France. Alfred Francis was one of four men from the battalion who were killed on the following day, 12th February probably in the afternoon when the enemy shelled the breastworks held by A Company and broke down a ten yard section. |
